They don't look at the big picture (the APR and their goals for that house). They ask for the lowest rate and don't demand the GFE in the beginning and wind up giving the loan to an unethical broker that low-balled them on fees, or else they end up paying a higher rate simply because they don't know they can back-up from their loan even at escrow signing.
They have a right to ask questions over and over again until they understand. Also they should not feel pressured or rushed to go through the process. And always, always have a right to know what the full cost of the loan will be by receiving the GFE within 3 days of application. This is the Law.
Don't give your personal info to just anybody that calls you at home. Make sure you get their name, phone number and address and look them up to find out if they are legitimate. Then you call them back and see if you like their personality and if they are truly interested in helping you or if they just want a commission.
